Do you dread every day? Hating your job. The traffic. The low pay. The toxicity.
I’ve been there.
There’s a common notion that you should make the best out of your situation.
And you should. Absolutely.
Looking for good in every bad situation is a skill to be learned for many people. Optimism allows us to not drag our souls through the darkest, deepest moments feeling nothing but anger, sadness, and the like.
In every minute of ridiculous traffic during my commute, I find the good things.
A moment to call my husband. Plenty of time to listen to a podcast. Or maybe just time to let my mind wander and discover my deepest dreams and desires.
In all the bad moments, I strive to find goodness, a silver lining, a reason.
But I don’t let it become complacency.
I remind myself not to lose sight of the better life I want. I still have career goals and dreams and plans for retirement in the distant future.
I don’t want to be in my final days saying, “I wish I had tried.” I want to be proud of the life I lived. The things I accomplished. The legacy I left for my family.
If you’re miserable or feel like “this is the way it has to be”, just remember:
You do not have to be content with the way things are.
